Termites are one of the most important insects in the tropical forest, even when they are small insects, they have just one queen.

Their diet is based in dry leaves, once the leaves get their bowels some paracits called flagellates digest the cellulose, after discompose them they defecate producing a hard paste that use to build their nest.

The termites are very important for the forest in general because of they discompouse the waste that trees and plants produce, and make possible that the minerals be absorbed. Other wise the forest would die under their own waste.

They also are eatable by some South American tribus, additional they have a close taste to carrot, having a lot of proteins.

Las termitas son uno de los insectos más importantes en el bosque tropical, incluso cuando son insectos pequeños, viven en colonias y tienen una sola reina.

Su dieta se basa en hojas secas, y una vez que las hojas llegan a sus intestinos unos parasitos llamados flagelados, digieren la celulosa, después de disolverlos, defecan y producen una pasta dura que usan para construir su nido.

Las termitas son muy importantes para el bosque en general, ya que descomponen los residuos que producen los árboles y las plantas, y hacen posible que los minerales sean absorbidos. De otra manera el bosque moriría bajo sus propios desperdicios.

También son comestibles por algunas tribus sudamericanas, además de que tienen un sabor cercano a la zanahoria, son ricos en proteínas.
